Maternity sessions usually take place between 30 and 34 weeks, depending on how much you are showing and if this is your first pregnancy. First pregnancies sometimes don’t show as soon, so it’s recommended that first time pregnancies take place closer to 32-34 weeks, while subsequent pregnancies can take place sooner. We want to make sure your bump is fully formed when doing your session, the fuller the better. The worst of the swelling doesn’t usually set in until the last month, and swelling can be minimized during retouching if it’s something you are concerned about.

You should try to reserve 2-3 months in advance, however there may be last minute availability so it never hurts to inquire. When you book your session, you will be given an agreement that will go over what to expect, and a questionnaire so that you can customize the session to your style. I do have a general workflow of poses to use, but I am always open to special requests. Your session will typically last 60 to 90 minutes. There are many locations to choose from when it comes to your maternity session, and once you book your session we will go over all your options. You will also receive tips and recommendations for what to wear. I do suggest having your hair and makeup professionally done if you are able to, and can send recommendations for artists.

Don’t think you are photogenic? I’d love to prove you wrong! You will be fully directed with posing so you won’t feel awkward, even if you don’t have experience in front of the camera. I am confident about using angles that are flattering and bring out the natural beauty in each and every individual.
